This past weekend Jonathan and I dropped Weber at the boarder, grabbed our first red-cup holiday beverages at Starbucks (gingersnap latte for me, eggnog latte for him), and hit the road to Birmingham, Alabama for the wedding of one of the nicest guys I know, Graham Hill, to the sweetest little Southern belle, BethAnn Watson. It was so nice to have Jonathan alone in the car for 4 hours; no books, no studying, no talking about school. 'Twas divine. Oh, and the rolling hills and fall leaves didn't hurt either.
I won't bore you with the play-by-play of the weekend, but in a nutshell the weekend included lots of catching up, lots of laughing, lots of good food, and lots of silent little prayers of thanksgiving for the blessing of friendship. My friends from my OBU days have managed to stay in touch for going on 5 years post-graduation, and our relationships are still as deep and meaningful as they were back on Bison Hill. For those of you who couldn't make it: you were missed!
Graham and Beth Ann sure know how to throw a party! Our entire crowd kept the party going all night; the band was incredible and we danced as long as they played. And of course, our awesome boys (Todd, Jase, and Mike in particular) kept all the old ladies and bridesmaids happy by swinging them across the dance floor as if they were the only girl in the room. It was quite a night! After sending off the bride and groom, we all headed out to a local bar and continued the catching up over drinks; we didn't call it a night until 1:30 a.m. (and the boys kept the party going at Waffle House!). Way past my bedtime, but entirely worth it.
Here are a few pics. I really need to get better about taking pictures because these don't do the weekend justice!
The girls, all hot and sweaty from dancing, but still lookin' hot!
My handsome date and dancing partner...we're looking a little weary from the dance floor!
Sweet Matty and the cutest 1 year old on the planet, Mattox! (Sorry it's sideways...I'm lazy)
The girls in downtown Birmingham before breakfast on Sunday.
What do you say we do it again this weekend...who's in???
